Darghaur Ten

I finished these 15mm Darghaur (from GZG) some days ago, and I think this is the first time I have finished painting the stuff I bought at SALUTE, usually it takes forever to paint just a fraction. To be honest, I only bought three 15mm sets from GZG. They were specially designed for Tomorrow's War's suplement, "By Dagger or Talon"

These were really easy to paint, and I know I tend to use spots on my miniatures, but spotted skin for aliens is cool. You are supposed to paint these creatures' horns in colours to show their rank, but I think I won't do that, or at least with this first group. The "official colours" the people from Ambush Alley used for their Darghaur are too bright for me (a mix of yellow, white, red...) and I'm a bit monochromatic. So if I paint the horns I'll use white rings or something similar. The bigger the antlers, the more important and agressive the Darghaur is.

Concord Strike Command Team

I got a basic Concord army from Warlord Games to paint for playing Beyond the Gates of Antares. I didn't want to invest a lot of time painting it so I could play with everything painted as soon as possible. I decided to go for the easiest but most effective way, a sprayed base colour, Demonic Yellow Army Painter Spray; black undersuits, some black armour plates and weapons. Then I gave them three Army Painter Red Tone Washes (waiting for it to dry well after every layer) to get the orange tone, then highlighted the black parts; painted the green lights and then a dot of gloss varnish on them to enhance the light effect. Basing and done, I think it took 15 minutes per miniature (not counting drying times). The miniatures were varnished gloss and then matt.

I'll be posting my progress with the rest of the army, and maybe even a battle report.

It has been a long time since I posted something here. I have painted stuff but I haven't taken pictures. I hope I can fix that soon.

The thing is this is the first time I participate in a Kickstarter. I don't like to wait months or years to get my minis, but I couldn't resist this one. The pledges are reasonable in price and I love the Astagar. I bought the only set Critical Mass Games released in their Mercenaries range, never got to paint them but they are assembled and have been ready on my desk for ages. So when they started to talk about doing a whole range (some years ago, not sure if 2 or 3) I got very interested in what they would do.

So this is one of those selfish gestures that human beings do, I'm putting the link to the campaign here. Some of you probably have seen it before, and some might have even participated. But the more people see it the more possibilities of people pledging. And the more they pledge, the more Stretch Goals will be unlocked. I'm especially interested in the one at £5.000, because it makes it possible for them to do three different infantry squads, that's three different sets of eight infantry miniatures.

Sorry about the lack of painted stuff, but I promise I'll post things soon. Maybe after SALUTE because right now between life and preparing stuff at work for SALUTE I have no time for anything else.

Caesarean Roman Project I

I wrote this article about my Caesarean roman project for Warlord Games a few days ago. It's the second one in a series showing how I'm collecting and painting (and maybe even gaming) my Caesarean Roman army. In this one I'm talking about doing some conversions on those plastic figures. Right now I'm about to finish a second 24 men strong unit, and some more stuff has been started.

Because I wrote the article for them I'm leaving here the link and a couple of pictures. There are plenty more on the article.

I painted this very old figure for a friend. It was a lead figure, an old Ral Partha giant? I don't know. It was very easy and fast to paint.

I haven't posted here in quite a lot of time. I thought it wouldn't hurt to show some of the latest things I have painted for my own collection. I'm really enjoying painting this figures, they are part of the fantastic Tenoch range from The Little Soldiers Company. I put together the bunch I have finished and took this scenic shot. I'm working on a few more warriors and some characters. It's a mix of Tenoch and Enhanced Warriors figures.

What's this!!?? Two entries in the same week after years of silence!! Some more Tenoch (or Slann as some people call them). There are Tenoch warriors, several of them in the same pose but modified and slightly converted. The jungle is getting dangerous!!

And those are all the warriors I´ve got for now. I have got a Shaman riding a beast, so there are more Tenoch (Slann) pictures coming.

I got this figure from Knightmare Miniatures, it's a really nice Chaos Champion, sculpted by Kevin Adams. I think he is quite a good match for the previous Tenoch/Slann I have been painting lately. I'll use him as another Slann Hero.
